Our story began in 1980, when founder Susan opened her first home décor store in Rink Street, Port Elizabeth, under the name Biggie Best. As the business evolved, so did its vision. In 1993, Susan renamed the business, Lemon Tree, marking the beginning of a new chapter. What started as a single shop has grown into one of South Africa's most respected home décor retailers and wholesalers, built on experience, passion and an unwavering eye for design.

In 1993, Susan took a leap into international sourcing, traveling to China for the first time. Since then, she has spent decades travelling throughout China, India, Vietnam and Indonesia, building trusted relationships with artisans and suppliers while discovering unique pieces that reflect global trends without losing their timeless appeal.

With years of experience and an inherent understanding of design, she has an exceptional ability to recognise pieces that customers will love. Every collection is personally curated, combining quality craftsmanship, beautiful textures and enduring style. 

As the business has grown, so too has the team behind it. A few members of the Lemon Tree family have been with the company for more than 30 years, reflecting a culture built on loyalty, trust and genuine relationships. Today, Susan continues to work alongside her son Michael, ensuring the family values and passion that shaped the business continue into the next generation.
